The platform unifies real-time insights on companies across hundreds of metrics, helping investors make data-driven decisions. Our customers include some of the largest venture capital firms, private equity shops, and hedge funds globally.

We are currently hiring for the Vertical Software team, focusing on industries such as Consumer Products, Consumer Internet & Services, Media & Entertainment, and more. If you're passionate about startups, technology trends, and venture capital, this role might be for you.

About the Work:

• Startup & Technology Trends:

  • Evaluate and analyze startups, their business models, revenue models, and distribution models.

  • Leverage alternative data to understand how companies, competitors, and industries are performing.

• Research & Insights:

  • Regularly share insights derived from companies of interest with customers in the form of reports and mailers.

  • Showcase the power of the Synaptic platform to guide investment decisions.

• Collaborative Teamwork:

  • Work with engineering, product, and data science teams to bring innovative ideas to life.

Key Responsibilities:

• Industry & Company Analysis:

  • Deep dive into the startup world, identifying business models, sub-sectors, revenue models, competitive positioning, and challenges in industries like Consumer Products, Consumer Internet & Services, and Media & Entertainment.

  • Conduct secondary research, using frameworks like Porter's 5 Forces, PESTLE analysis, and more to analyze market dynamics and company structures.

• Reporting & Communication:

  • Distill key findings from blogs, company filings, news articles, and industry reports from reputable sources.

  • Formulate independent opinions on sectoral developments, identifying growth drivers and challenges.

  • Write and communicate insights clearly and effectively, presenting data-driven stories to clients.

• Research Techniques:

  • Use first principle approaches, root cause analysis, hypothesis generation, and benchmarking to analyze companies in the sector.

  • Identify trends, developments, M&A history, SWOT analysis, and competitive strategies for companies within your focus sector.

Requirements:

• Intellectual Curiosity & Motivation:

  • Passionate about analyzing innovative ideas within the startup, technology, and venture capital industries.

  • Desire to understand, classify, review, and analyze companies across these sectors.

• Research & Analytical Skills:

  • Strong ability to analyze business models and the underlying market of companies.

  • Keen to conduct secondary research from a wide range of sources (e.g., blogs, filings, reports).

• Communication Skills:

  • Articulate and comfortable writing and presenting insights and data to clients.

  • Ability to translate numbers into compelling narratives and express independent opinions.

• Experience:

  • Fresh college graduate or professional with up to 2 years of full-time work experience.

  • Exposure to market research, startup research, or consultancy is preferred.

• Problem-Solving & Grit:

  • A drive to tackle challenges head-on and help build a world-class company.

  • Ability to think critically and deeply analyze complex data to generate actionable insights.
