Role Overview:
Join Barclays as a Sanctions Alert Advisory Analyst, responsible for supporting the Sanctions function. You will drive the effective delivery, oversight, and risk management for sanctions alerts escalations. This involves assessing and reviewing sanction risks regarding alerts escalated to Sanctions Compliance across all business units within Barclays, ensuring adherence to financial crime objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct analysis and due diligence on sanctions alerts to determine appropriate actions based on the Sanctions Standards and Restricted Activity Matrix.

  • Ensure adherence to sanctions laws and regulations, ensuring client accounts and transactions are compliant.

  • Revise escalated cases, confirm True Match status, and provide feedback on incorrect escalations.

  • Manage and guide complex sanctions investigations, following proper escalation routes and involving relevant stakeholders.

  • Handle Payment Screening alerts and escalate True Matches to the appropriate Business-Aligned Sanctions Team.

  • Identify opportunities for process efficiency and feedback improvements.

Qualifications & Skills:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Excellent understanding of OFAC, OFSI, EU, and UN sanctions laws and regulations.

  • Strong judgment, attention to detail, and the confidence to make critical business decisions.

  • Ability to articulate opinions effectively, even in the face of contrary views.

Desirable Skillsets:

  • Experience with FircoSoft and/or OWS.

  • Background in sanctions or financial crime.

  • Understanding of Barclays Group/Business Units and its payment processing systems.

Purpose of the Role:

The Sanctions Alert Advisory Analyst will:

  • Identify and review escalated sanctions alerts.

  • Ensure compliance with all sanctions regulations and internal governance.

  • Deliver quality analysis and support the financial crime objectives of the organization.
