Technical Operations includes the maintenance and enhancement of our aircraft. This involves aircraft maintenance specialists, engineers, planners, ground equipment, and facilities teams, supply chain teams, and more.


Job Overview and Responsibilities

Sr. Analyst - Inventory Forecasting
The Sr. Analyst in Inventory Forecasting supports spare part forecasting improvements, including disposable and rotable parts to assist the Maintenance operations of the United Airlines fleet. This role is part of the team responsible for identifying improvement opportunities, enhancing spare parts forecasting, and streamlining the forecasting process. The role collaborates with Digital Technology partners and Supply Chain teams, including inventory planning, vendor management, parts/engine shops, warehousing, and logistics functions. It works closely with other Data Scientists to identify patterns from parts usage data, transaction data, and operations data, offering suggestions to support the supply chain organization's goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify improvement opportunities to enhance forecasting model performance and streamline processes.
  • Ensure alignment and prioritization with business objectives and initiatives, aiding business groups in making faster and better decisions.
  • Support key supply chain initiatives with analysis and actionable recommendations.
  • Continuously improve forecasting capabilities.

Additional Information:

  • This position is for United Airlines Business Services Pvt. Ltd - a wholly owned subsidiary of United Airlines Inc.
  • The role is based on local terms and conditions. Expatriate assignments and visa sponsorship will not be provided.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, operations research, or engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience in data science, statistical modeling, or process improvement in supply chain, aviation, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Programming experience in languages like Python or R.
  • Experience with machine learning techniques such as time series forecasting, regression, etc.
  • Knowledge of database models (e.g., RDBMS, Hadoop) and high-level proficiency in integrating complex transactional data in relational databases using SQL.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in India without sponsorship.
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Successful completion of the interview process to meet job qualifications.
  • Strong, reliable attendance is a core requirement of the role.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, data science/AI.
  • At least one year of airline experience.
  • At least one year of supply chain experience.
  • Familiarity with deep learning techniques.
  • Strong background in at least one supply chain function.
  • Demonstrates a scientific approach to problem-solving with attention to detail and urgency.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., TIBCO Spotfire, Tableau, Palantir Foundry, MS Power BI, etc.).
  • Experience with analytical model development and deployment in a related business area.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies.
