Role Overview

The Aircraft Structural Repair Engineer is responsible for ensuring the timely return of commercial aircraft to service by providing optimal structural repair solutions. This role emphasizes the design and stress perspectives of repair activities while ensuring product safety, cost-effectiveness, and adherence to timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Duties

• Damage Assessment:
  • Research and analyze input data to evaluate damage scenarios.
  • Query appropriate drawings for aircraft configuration details.
• Repair Design:
  • Propose and analyze structural repair solutions for airlines.
  • Perform hand calculations and use computer methods for evaluations.
• Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Design, Stress/Fatigue, Materials, and Performance).
  • Validate methodologies, assumptions, and data used for repair justifications.
• Compliance and Airworthiness:
  • Ensure that the repair makes the aircraft airworthy once again.
  • Define maintenance programs to align with repair requirements.

Documentation

• Prepare technical justification reports from design and stress perspectives.
• Support or secure the approval of technical justifications as required.

Program Management & Business Development

• Identify and support local improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate across stakeholders to ensure timely responses, effective monitoring, and accurate reporting.

Required Skills and Expertise

Technical Competence

• Strong understanding of structural modeling and/or stress analysis, including F&DT (Fatigue and Damage Tolerance).
• Proficiency in solving real-world in-service structural issues for aircraft.
• Familiarity with hand calculations and computer-aided analysis methods.

• Strong communication, collaboration, and influencing skills.
• Ability to make quick yet meaningful decisions under pressure.
• Proactive and self-driven with a continuous learning mindset.
