Job Title: Director of Engineering, Financial Technology Systems

About the Role

The Director of Engineering, Financial Technology Systems will lead the technical strategy and execution of financial technology services within Fanatics Commerce. This senior leadership position requires strategic vision, technical expertise, and deep knowledge of financial systems to deliver scalable, compliant, and high-performance solutions.

The role involves overseeing the Microsoft D365 ERP system, leveraging Azure and integration services in AWS. Additionally, Oracle Financials may be introduced into the portfolio. The Director will be responsible for seamless system functionality, robust data engineering practices, and operational excellence to support Finance and Accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Leadership

✔ Develop and execute a technical strategy aligned with organizational goals, focusing on D365 ERP and enterprise system integration.
✔ Optimize the data footprint strategy, utilizing Fabric Lake, Spark, Glue Catalog, and Iceberg for improved data integration and scalability.
✔ Champion engineering best practices to ensure high reliability and system performance.

2. Data Engineering & BI Enablement

✔ Oversee data engineering efforts, ensuring accurate, timely, and high-quality data pipelines.
✔ Collaborate with BI and analytics teams to create foundational data structures for actionable insights.
✔ Support financial predictive modeling and performance management-related data engineering.

3. Operational Excellence

✔ Ensure day-to-day support for D365 ERP and related financial systems, minimizing downtime and optimizing user experience.
✔ Address operational challenges, including market channel segmentation, customer accounts, and real-time reporting for movement journals.
✔ Establish frameworks and tools for issue resolution and continuous improvement.

4. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

✔ Partner with Product, Finance, Supply Chain, and BI teams to seamlessly integrate financial systems into business processes.
✔ Work closely with remote engineering centers to align global initiatives and drive high-performance teams.

5. Innovation & Scaling

✔ Support Gen AI-based opportunities within Financial Technology.
✔ Lead the migration of legacy systems to modern, scalable architectures.
✔ Drive agile processes, mapping OKRs to JIRA initiatives for effective program management.

6. Team Development

✔ Mentor and grow engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and technical excellence.
✔ Ensure teams are proficient in high-scale systems and cutting-edge technologies to meet evolving business needs.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

✔ Proven experience leading engineering teams in a retail or e-commerce environment.
✔ Deep expertise in ERP systems, cloud technologies, and data engineering.
✔ Strong leadership and communication skills, with a track record of cross-functional collaboration.
✔ Strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to solving complex technical challenges.
