About the Team – Unified Communications Engineering:

The Unified Communications Engineering division at Comcast is responsible for designing, building, and operating industry-leading voice and unified communications solutions for residential, commercial, and wholesale customers globally. Role Summary:

As a DevOps Engineer, you will deploy applications to cloud and internal systems, build scalable infrastructure, manage CI/CD pipelines, and ensure service reliability. This role is ideal for someone with a solid Linux background, containerization expertise, and a passion for automation and efficiency. You will be a technical mentor and contributor within a collaborative international team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and manage CI/CD pipelines for application and service deployment.

• Develop and manage scalable, fault-tolerant infrastructure.

• Administer and monitor cloud infrastructure (OpenStack or AWS).

• Install and manage container orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes).

• Troubleshoot application and system issues in test and production environments.

• Automate infrastructure provisioning using tools like Terraform and Ansible.

• Deploy software updates and system patches efficiently.

• Utilize monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk/ElasticSearch, Alerta).

• Support SQL/NoSQL database environments (Cassandra, MongoDB, Postgres).

• Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams for process optimization.

• Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and tools.

• Continuously research and recommend improvements for systems and tools.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Education: Bachelor's Degree (preferred). Equivalent experience will be considered.

• Experience: 5–7 years of relevant industry experience.

• Strong experience with Linux system administration and debugging.

• Proficient in Python or scripting languages.

• Deep knowledge of Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.

• Proven hands-on experience with Ansible, Terraform, and cloud platforms (AWS/OpenStack).

• CI/CD tools experience (e.g., Jenkins, Concourse, ArgoCD).

• Familiarity with GitHub, Makefiles, Maven, HAProxy/Traefik, Nginx.

• Working knowledge of database technologies (SQL/NoSQL).

• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work independently or as part of a team.

• Strong communication and mentoring skills.

Core Responsibilities:

• Lead and troubleshoot operational incidents.

• Advocate for DevOps best practices, automation, and continuous improvement.

• Provide technical expertise across development and operations teams.

• Integrate new tools and technologies to improve product and system performance.

• Analyze data to drive improvements in engineering and customer experience.

• Guide less experienced engineers and serve as a technical lead on cross-team projects.

• Work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and on-call shifts as required.
