Team Overview – Corporate Technology:

As part of the Wholesale Credit Risk team within Corporate Technology, you will work at the forefront of financial innovation, building secure and scalable technology solutions that support critical business functions. Our teams follow agile methodologies and emphasize CI/CD, resilience, and security in every phase of the software development lifecycle.


Role Summary:

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and developing high-quality, secure software products. You’ll collaborate with multiple stakeholders, lead critical architecture and development efforts, and mentor other engineers. This role requires advanced technical capabilities, problem-solving skills, and a strong understanding of enterprise-level application development and infrastructure.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy innovative software solutions with a focus on scalability and stability.

  • Write secure, high-quality production code and review/debug code developed by others.

  • Troubleshoot complex system issues and propose long-term solutions.

  • Automate recurring tasks and enhance operational efficiency.

  • Evaluate and work with external vendors and emerging technologies.

  • Promote best practices in software development, including CI/CD and application security.

  • Lead discussions in communities of practice to encourage the use of modern technologies.

  • Contribute to an inclusive and collaborative team culture.


Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Education/Experience:

    • Formal training or certification in software engineering.

    • 5+ years of hands-on experience in system design, development, and operational support.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Strong proficiency in Java (Java 17/21 preferred).

    • Deep understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

    • Experience with automation tools and CI/CD pipelines.

    • Hands-on with containerization technologies and Kubernetes (K8s).

    • Proficiency with Spring Framework, ORM, caching techniques.

    • Practical experience in cloud-native development and architecture.

    • Familiarity with agile methodologies, application resiliency, and security best practices.

  • Analytical Skills:

    • Strong problem-solving capabilities.

    • Ability to evaluate system design, data flow, and integration challenges.


Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases.

  • Exposure to technologies like Apache Spark and Kafka in Kubernetes environments.

  • Familiarity with modern front-end technologies (optional but beneficial).

  • Knowledge of financial services domain and IT systems is a strong plus.
