About the Role: Pressure Systems Integrity Engineer (Tank Focused)

This role focuses on tank RBI implementation and sustainability, integrity assessments, and asset support related to storage tanks and pressure systems. You will provide technical leadership in proactive risk-based inspection (RBI) processes, ensuring asset reliability and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Discipline-Related Duties

Develop & Maintain Tank RBI Methodologies – Ensure alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Optimize Tank Inspection Strategies – Develop work instructions and job aids for standardization.
Implement & Manage Tank RBI Programs – Utilize commercial software tools and maintain Inspection Data Management Systems (IDMS).
Perform Risk Analysis & Ever-Greening – Continuously update RBI inspection plans and validate data quality.
Damage Mechanism Assessments – Identify potential degradation mechanisms and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
Tank Integrity Assessments – Support global integrity programs and collaborate with operating sites.
Inspection Data Management – Maintain bp’s tank database, ensuring accuracy for new tanks, demolitions, and MOC updates.
Mechanical Integrity (MI) Audits – Conduct gap assessments, audits, and process improvements.
Training & Capability Development – Deliver technical training and coaching for site users.
Cross-functional Collaboration – Engage with Maintenance, Operations, Integrity, and Project teams.
Continuous Improvement – Drive RBI performance management by measuring KPIs and insights.

People & Business-Related Duties

Safety Leadership – Align with bp’s safety principles, lifesaving rules, and process safety fundamentals.
Knowledge Sharing – Record and share key learnings across teams.
Stakeholder Collaboration – Engage with internal and external integrity management teams, vendors, and auditors.


Required Qualifications & Experience

Education & Certifications

Must Have:

  • BSc or BEng (UK), BSc (US), or international equivalent in Engineering
  • API 653 and/or EEMUA 159 certification (Tank Inspector and/or Assessor)

Preferred:

  • Specialization in Materials, Corrosion, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering
  • Certifications in API 580, 510, 570, and 571

Experience & Skills

Must Have:

  • 8+ years of experience in oil & gas, petrochemical industries, tank integrity management, and RBI
  • Deep understanding of API standards (575, 620, 650, 653, EEMUA 159)
  • Strong expertise in risk evaluation, remaining life assessments, and Fitness-for-Service (FFS) analysis
  • Hands-on experience with Tank RBI implementation & maintenance
  • Proficiency in Inspection Data Management Systems (IDMS) and Tank RBI Software (e.g., GE APM)
  • Knowledge of damage mechanism assessments, advanced NDT techniques, and inspection methodologies
  • Ability to create technical documents, work processes, and training materials
  • Strong analytical, project scheduling, and database management skills
  • Experience with Mechanical Integrity (MI) audits and gap assessments
  • People leadership, teamwork, and stakeholder management skills
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with process design, process safety, and operational conditions in Oil & Gas
  • Experience applying qualitative RBI methodologies
  • Strong digital fluency with data management tools
