About the Role

As a Senior Frontend Engineer, you will lead and execute UI projects that enable all of Chegg’s engineering to build faster and deliver better, ensuring an excellent student experience. You’ll work in a high-impact environment with passionate engineers, collaborating with designers, product managers, data scientists, and UX researchers.

This role is ideal for someone who loves clean, reusable code, thrives on innovation, and is excited to build scalable front-end systems while mentoring others.

Responsibilities

• Ship reliable, scalable, and secure software through strong design and code reviews.

• Build clean, efficient, reusable UI features/libraries/components shared across Chegg Engineering.

• Collaborate with design and product teams to deliver exceptional user experiences.

• Optimize UI and web server code for performance, security, and scalability.

• Drive architectural decisions and contribute to technical vision.

• Mentor and guide junior engineers while staying current on frontend technologies.

Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in frontend/UI development.

• Strong hands-on experience with:

  • ReactJS, NextJS, Redux, Apollo/GraphQL, NodeJS, SSR

  • TypeScript, JavaScript

  • Server-side CSS preprocessors (e.g., Sass, Less)

• Deep understanding of scalable modern web architecture and single-page applications.

• Solid understanding of TDD, unit testing, and test automation.

• Experience in performance optimization for frontend applications.

• Self-motivated with a passion for continuous learning and improvement.

Nice to Have

• Experience with:

  • AWS or other cloud platforms

  • Building internal developer platforms/tools

  • Managing large datasets (millions of rows) on the frontend

  • Open-source contributions

  • Visual design collaboration or working with design teams
