India’s urban transition presents both opportunities and challenges—ranging from economic growth to inequality and environmental degradation. The Indian Institute for Human Settlements (IIHS) runs academic programmes aimed at training a new generation of urban practitioners through its five interdisciplinary schools:
School of Environment and Sustainability (SES)
School of Systems and Infrastructure (SSI)
School of Economic Development (SED)
School of Human Development (SHD)
School of Governance (SoG)
These schools address urban issues such as infrastructure, economic development, climate change, affordable housing, healthcare, and governance.
Role: Academic Programme Manager
This position supports the administration and delivery of Master’s-level programmes at IIHS. It will be part of the Academic Office, working closely with various internal teams to manage logistical, financial, and operational tasks and ensure the smooth functioning of teaching programmes.
Coordinate logistics for classroom sessions, field visits, projects, Practica, student assessments, etc.
Support teaching-learning facilities: oversee onboarding, troubleshooting, and service quality.
Handle routine operations: vendor coordination, billing, invoices, and ERP entries.
Assist in organizing orientation, graduation, alumni reunions, and chapter events.
Manage scholarships, stipends, reimbursements, and travel logistics for faculty and students.
Maintain academic and events calendars, handle updates and scheduling.
Maintain records, filing systems, and respond to academic programme queries.
Participate in committees and advocate for academic programme interests.
Provide support to broader IIHS activities across departments.
Reports to the Senior Lead – Academic Administration or designee of the Associate Dean – Academics. Collaboration with Academic Committees and internal teams is essential.
Education: Master’s degree in any discipline
Experience: Minimum 8 years in academic administration or project management
Skills Required:
Record keeping, calendar management, and appointment scheduling
Excellent communication in English (written and oral)
Strong organisational ability and attention to detail
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Tech-savvy with MS Office, Google Suite, Zoom, Teams, etc.
Preferred: Sectoral knowledge in Urban Studies or related fields
This is an exclusive position; other professional engagements are not allowed
The position is based in Bengaluru with travel as needed
