Job Overview:
As a Radiology Charge Entry Billing Specialist, you will play a crucial role in auditing radiology claims, ensuring compliance with coding standards, and accurately billing radiology services. You will also be responsible for working with eClinicalWorks (ECW) software to process claims and resolve issues related to billing and insurance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in auditing, expertise in radiology billing, and experience with ECW software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Auditing: Conduct comprehensive audits of medical records and radiology claims to ensure accurate coding, billing, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Quality Auditing: Reviewing medical records and billing practices to ensure compliance with regulations, policies, and industry standards. Auditing for accuracy and identifying any discrepancies or errors.
  • Radiology Billing: Review and bill radiology services such as X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, ultrasounds, and nuclear medicine using proper ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
  • eClinicalWorks (ECW) Software: Utilize eClinicalWorks (ECW) software to manage patient information, billing, and coding processes. Ensure all claims are processed accurately and timely within the ECW system.
  • Claim Submissions: Submit claims to insurance companies, follow up on any denials, and ensure all necessary documentation is provided for reimbursement.
  • Insurance Verification: Verify patient eligibility, insurance coverage, and pre-authorization requirements for radiology procedures.
  • Compliance and Regulation: Stay up-to-date on changes to billing codes, payer policies, and regulations related to radiology services.
  • Patient Interaction: Provide patient billing support, explain charges, and resolve any billing-related discrepancies or questions.
  • Process Improvement: Identify discrepancies or potential areas for fraud, and implement solutions to improve billing processes.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate billing records and generate reports for management, ensuring audit trails and payment postings are documented appropriately.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Medical Billing & Coding, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required.
  • Certifications: Medical Billing and Coding certification (e.g., AAPC, AHIMA) preferred.

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience in medical billing and coding, with a focus on radiology services.
  • Strong auditing experience, including conducting internal audits and resolving billing discrepancies.
  • Hands-on experience with eClinicalWorks (ECW) software is a must.
  • Familiarity with radiology-specific billing codes (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS) and payer-specific requirements.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of auditing practices in the healthcare industry, particularly related to radiology services.
  • Expertise in radiology-specific billing codes and procedures.
  • Proficient in using eClinicalWorks (ECW) software for patient data management and billing processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex billing issues effectively.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, including HIPAA compliance.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
